The Page Literary Society was founded in 1854 and named for the educator David Page. It was the only student organization at the Normal School until the Normal Literary Society was formed in 1857. They had their own libraries, debating teams and mandolin groups. They met regularly in their own society room in the Main Building (Old Main).
