Gymnasium, 1890-1938
Scope and Contents
[b]Dutcher Hall [/b]served as the first gymnasium and later as the student union (the “Rat”). It was begun in July 1890 and a full description was shared in the [url=http://digital.klnpa.org/cdm4/cliparticle.php?id=DIVL27&CISOOBJECT=107&CISOROOT=/normjour&CISOPTR=99&DMSCALE=0&DMTEXT=]November 1890 Normal Journal[/url]. In 1974 it was [url=http://digital.klnpa.org/cdm4/document.php?CISOROOT=/mvssnap01&CISOPTR=22123&REC=10]rededicated[/url] and named for Dean Dutcher (1927-1952), professor of social studies, chairman of the Social Studies Department, and a developer of the college testing program
