Summary Note

Background note. Mary Bushong may have been the daughter of the landlord where Sallies mother resided and Anna Pennington was a friend from Homeville. Plutus is considered the Greek God of wealth. Whitsuntide is the day after Whitsunday (White Sunday), the custom of wearing white robes by those newly baptized. The day is observed as a legal holiday in England, Wales and Ireland. Oliver S. Fell was a student at the Normal School from Attleboro in Bucks County. On May 10th the Board of Trustees at the Normal School passed a resolution to for the dismissal of Principal John Stoddard. James P. Wickersham was offered the position as principal and accepted on June 16th.
