Summary Note

Background note. Jason Bolton was Sallie's uncle from Liberty Square in Lancaster County. Gussie was E. Augusta Dart the teacher who taught Drawing and Painting at the Normal School in the spring of 1857. Professor John Stoddard was the first principle of the Lancaster County Normal School but after only his first year he was forced to resign. He relocated to Bethany in Wayne County to start another school that later became the University of Northern Pennsylvania. The Penningtons were family friends from Homeville.
