Summary Note
Background note. Sallie Lamborn was a cousin of Sallies from Liberty Square in Lancaster County. A settee is a medium size sofa with arms and back. Thomas H. Burrows was a prominent Lancaster attorney, State Legislator, and Board of Trustee member of the Normal School from 1857 to 1858. Joseph P. Harvey was a student from Feasterville, Southampton Township in Bucks County. Mr. W. A. Smiley and Mrs. M. B. Smiley were listed in the 1857 school catalog as being students from West Middletown in Washington County. Edward L. Walker was also listed as a student from Benfords Store in Somerset County. Professor Edward Brooks was an instructor in mathematics and vocal music in 1857 but would eventually become principal of the Normal School in 1866 and served in that position until1883. His wife H. Marie Brooks taught Music and Piano from 1856 to 1866 and later in 1873 to 1883. Dr. Henry Heistand practiced dentistry in Millersville. His office was located on
