Summary Note

Background note: John Bushong was a family acquaintance from Upper Oxford Township in Chester County. Governor James Pollock's visit to Millersville was to attend a convention entitled the "Educational Harvest Home", which was organized to promote funding for the enlargement of the school building to fulfill the requirments needed to establish a state supported normal school. Among the other dignitaries to visit Millersville was the State Superintendant of Schools, Henry Hickok, who toured the building and school grounds along with the governor. The local papers would report that close to 2,500 people attended the convention.
