Lyte Auditorium/Winter's Center, 1954-
Scope and Contents
Lyte Auditorium was built in 1953 and named for Eliphalet Oram Lyte, an 1868 and 1876 graduate of the Normal School. He taught rhetoric, bookkeeping, pedagogy, and grammar at MSNS from 1868 to 1887. In 1887 he became Principal, serving until 1912. In 1998 it was renovated and renamed Alumni Hall and Lyte Auditorium. From 2010 to 2012 it was underwent a major renovation and expansion and was rededicated as the Dr. Charles R. and Mrs. Anita B. Winter Center.
