Biographical / Historical

Lady Bird was born in 1926 in Georgia.  In 1941 she traveled to New York to help her older sister take care of her children.  While attending Wadleigh High School in New York she discovered painting.  Her paintings in 1940s reflected the Harlem nightlife.  She had one daughter, model Patricia Cleveland, to jazz saxophonist Johnny Johnston.
