Story line

"When men first contact the natives of another planet, we'll have problems, whether Man is ahead, or the Aliens are. And the essence of the problem is, 'What constitutes 'helping' the natives of a different world?' The closest approach to that in history, the only near-example we have, is the story of the European and the Eskimo. The thing that makes the situation unique is that the Eskimo, unlike the African Negro or the American Indian, eagerly accepted schooling. But ... there were egregious mistakes ..."
