Story line

"The surface markings on Mars have been a challenging mystery largly because we can only half see them. In the best telescopes, Mars is somewhat less visible than our Moon is to the naked eye! And we know so little about planets; we've been able to examine only one and a half -- Earth, and it's half-planet companion."
