Biographical information

Bill Robinson, actor and dancer, was born 25 May 1878 in Richmond, Virginia. He performed in vaudeville, on Broadway and film. He was known for his light tap dancing. With his second wife, Fannie S. Clay, he founded the Negro Actors Guild of America. He also co-founded the New York Black Yankees team, based in Harlem, which was part of the Negro National League until 1948. He died 25 November 1949 in New York City.
