Biographical information
Frederick Douglas O'Neal was born 27 August 1905 in Brooksville, Mississippi. He made his stage debut in the 1940s and went on to act in film and television. He was the first black president of the Actors' Equity Association (1964-1973). He co-founded Harlem's American Negro Theatre in 1940 and the British Negro Theatre. He died 25 August 1992.
