Biographical information
Louise E. Jefferson (1908-2002), studied fine and commerical art at Howard University and then moved to New York City and continued her education at the School of Fine Arts at Hunter College. In 1935 she was one of the founding members of the Harlem Artist Guild. A free-lance job with the National Council of Churches' publishing operation led to full-time employment and eventually the press's art director.
