Biographical / Historical

Chester Bomar Himes, African American writer of detective novels, was born in 1909 in Jefferson City, Missouri. In 1928 he was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for armed robbery. While in prison he began writing. He lived in California until leaving for Europe where he began writing thrilllers in Paris. He moved to Moraira, Spain where he died in 1984.
