Biographical information
Born Mar. 29, 1931, in Brooklyn and died Nov. 28, Geneva, aged 81; soprano who was the first African-American to sing Aida with the Metropolitan Opera. She sang at the Met 15 times over four seasons, from the 1960s forward she performed primarily in Europe and was better known as a recitalist.
