Biographical information
She was raised in Oakland, California and was a popular jazz singer in the 1950s. With her silver tinted hair, she became known as "The Bronze Blonde Bombshell." Some of her records were banned from the radio waves for being too suggestive. In 1955 she left show business and attended Oakwood University, a historically black Seventh Day Adventist school in Huntsville, Alabama.
