Biographical information

b. August 2, 1924 in Harlem, New York, U.S; died December 1, 1987 (aged 63) in Saint-Paul de Vence, France; attended the New School (NYC); occupation: writer, novelist, essayist, poet, playwright, civil rights activist; most of Baldwin’s work deals with racial and sexual issues in the mid-20th century in the United States.
